40th Anniversary celebration

CCG 40th Birthday!

Yes the official event will be happening in Christchurch, come along and eat and listen to pioneering exploration stories.

40th Anniversary of Canterbury Caving Club to be celebrated on

Saturday 5th July

A meal will be held at the Brickworks at 5 pm (mains around $20 to $30).

A lecture will be held at 7.30 pm in the adjacent Beckenham Scout Den. Dr Malcolm Laird, geologist for the Punakaiki Geology map, Geology lecturer, former NZSS Bulletin Editor, and early caver, will speak about the early days on NZ caving and the geology of the Punakaiki Syncline. Lairds Cave, Mt Owen and Lairds Laid, Twinforks are part of his caving legacy.

Supper and reminiscing to follow. Bring a plate. All past and present members and supporters welcome.

Dress: formal ie. no mud, gumboots, or polyprop.

New Meeting Date and Venue

From Tuesday 14th October the Canterbury Caving Club will meet at the St Martins Scout Den, on Centaurus Road 50 m to the west of Rapaki Road. It is on the river side of Centaurus Road.on the SECOND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH

The meetings will start at 6.30pm to allow a hours climbing before the meeting at 7.30pm.
