You should be registering for the 2011 NZSS AGM now.
The AGM is this year hosted by CCG.
The event is based around Murchison, with Friday night registration starting at 7:00pm at the Murchison Riverview Holiday Park.
There are caving trips on for all abilities around the Murchison area, (see below)
with the NZSS AGM meeting being held on Saturday evening before the
evening dinner at the Riverview Cafe.
Sunday will see more caving and a BBQ dinner,
and on Monday Lectures on:
"Beyond the Neanderthal Caver – 21st Century Caver Ethics" (Dr Yann-Pierre Montelle),
"Disto, Therion, and Paperless surveying", and
"The Ellis Extreme Expedition".
Accommodation:
Accommodation is available at the Murchison Riverview Holiday Park, cabins, camp sites and motels.
Caving trips:
- Fyffe Gorge Canyoning - hard, canyoning experience required, wetsuit, 30 min drive north
* Mid-Bulmer Creek Prospecting -moderate, 5 river crossings, 3 hours tramping, 30 min drive
* Hunters/Guilotine Cave - moderate, 1 hour walk up hill, SRT or ladder, 1 hour drive south
* Profanity, Damnation and prospecting -moderate and wet, 1 hour drive west to Inangahua
* Pea Soup caves - easy, rarely visited, potential for prospecting, 20 min drive south
* Rappahaddock Caves - easy, rarely visited, potential for prospecting, 20 min drive south
* Half Gone and other caves of the Buller river north bank - easy, 1 hour drive
* Huia caves - easy, 1 hour drive north to Tadmore Saddle
